Weekly Greeting: Sunday 27 March

Dear Friends

While we sit in the Sanctuary today, a number of the men of our community are in Polokwane attending the Mighty Men Conference. Even though, as you read this, they are ending their weekend, pray that God will “work in them the good purpose of God’s perfect will”. There is no moment more powerful than God at work in our lives.

The topic for today is: The Power of putting faith into action.

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 19 April

Dear Friends

Over the last few days, numerous people have given testimony to the Easter Journey, sharing deeply significant moments of engaging God in Worship, in Word, in Sacrament and in imagery. Some were astonished at my ability to organise a power blackout at the moment of Benediction, having just considered the theme of Betrayal - I try. Personally I will not forget the visual experience of the Emseni sunrise service, seeing a cross, an empty tomb and the rising sun - all in the same vista. Try not to miss this service next year.

Weekly Greeting: Sunday 19 October

Dear Friends,

We greet you in the wonderful name of our Saviour Jesus.

This Sunday we are in the second week of a three-part series entitled Experiencing God's Healing Presence. We will be considering the topic 'healing a hurt mind.' The following article illustrates the power of faith in healing.

FROM A "MUSTARD" SEED TO "THE WITNESS" by Chippy Walker

What follows is an account of some of the incredible events that go to make up the journey of the production of the gospel musical "The Witness" and some of the many stories of how it has touched the lives of so many of us who have been so privileged to be part of this journey.

"This is how it all began...." (Peter)

Our Statement of Faith

God ordained and established the Church universal and Northfield Methodist Church in particular. We hold to an orthodox Christian faith.

As the Northfield Methodist Church, we understand ourselves to be a local company of the disciples of Jesus, the creation of the Holy Spirit, the Body and Bride of Christ, which is also described in the New Testament as the People of God.

We confess the Headship of our Lord Jesus Christ, and acknowledge the Divine revelation recorded in Holy Scripture, as the supreme ruler of our faith and practice.

We are at once both evangelical and sacramental, thereby recognising our primary vocation of declaring the gospel of a free full present salvation for everyone who repents and believes upon our Lord Jesus Christ, and observing two sacraments, namely, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We pray for the renewed heart in every person
and seek to build a living fellowship of all disciples of Jesus, under the leading and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We teach the possibility, here and now, of Christians being made ‘perfect in love’, through the obedience of faith.
