We use three lenses to guide in in our work and in our living. We use them for the life of Northfield and we encourage you to use these three lenses in all that you do every day:

  •  What we do must be done in a way that demonstrates our love for God and for each other
  • All that we do must be done in a way that is God honouring and people growing
  • Everything we do must nudge us along our life long journey towards a life fully surrendered to Jesus Christ

Thank you for the article on the work Northfield Methodist Church is doing in Marikana.

The community of Marikana is facing a humanitarian crisis. It is this crisis that we as a church respond to – a response to the community of Marikana and not just the strikers of Marikana.

This point is well captured in the article but betrayed by the subtitle. In this community, there…

Unlikely Heroes

Dear Friends, Warm greetings!

We begin our Winter Sermon Series this Sunday: UNLIKELY HEROES. The Bible is full of them! Repeatedly God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

We have so much to learn from them. We start with those three young men in the book of Daniel-Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego-as well as Daniel himself. We trust that as we enter into the remarkable stories of these lives that God will speak a hopeful and life-giving word to each of us.

We are in our first series of 2015: THE ROAD WE MUST TRAVEL.

The series is based on a book with contributors such as Francis Chan, Eugene Peterson, Bill Hybels, Gordon MacDonald and more. Life is a journey, we are on the road and there are adventures, surprises, accidents and catastrophes.  The real challenge is to be prepared.

For the next five weeks we will look at how to be prepared…
