Weekly Greeting: Sunday 27 November
Dear friends—
Warm greetings to you as we enter Advent here at Northfield Methodist! We trust that you will be able to share with us each Sunday as we journey towards Christmas. Our theme today is: CHRIST WILL COME AGAIN! This is something we say often. At our communion services we proclaim-Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again. In the Creed too we say-He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. But what do we mean when we say this? What does it involve for our lives here and now? Sometimes it is said about us here that we don’t speak enough about “the second coming” of Jesus. Well today is the day we look at this important theme of our faith. We hope that you will find it helpful.
As you know we put much effort into our Advent and Christmas worship life. You may want to keep a note of these dates and share them with friends too.
On Sunday the 11th December we are combining our evening services to have a Carols By Candlelight Service at 6pm. We hope that you will bring the whole family, young and old, to share in this time of celebration. Our preacher that evening will be Gavin Landers.
On Saturday the 18th December, early evening at 6pm, Brian Smith will be hosting the Crib service. This service will have a special difference this year. We are asking children to come in the dress of one of the Nativity characters. In other words every child will be part of the Christmas drama! Our new minister Louise Wernich will share in this service too.
We have our Christmas Eve Midnight service later at 11pm when Brian Smith will be leading us in Communion. This is a wonderful way of actually seeing in the birth of Christ. The service usually ends just after midnight.
On Christmas Day we are having 3 morning services at 7am, 8am and 10am. This will be a time of family celebration. Please invite your friends and family. Louise Wernich will be sharing a children’s message and Trevor Hudson will be the preacher for all the services.
As usual we see the New Year in with God at our Watchnight Service which will be at 11.30pm where Louise Wernich will lead our meditation.
Let us journey together through this special season of celebration and worship!
God bless
The Ministry Team.
