We are often told that if you want something done properly – do it yourself.

We live behind computer screens and online pseudonyms. We tell strangers what we think they should think on Twitter. We call people friends on Facebook but avoid them in supermarkets. We stare at our phones, but never actually phone. Our diaries are full of meetings, but do we actually ever meet?

We come to church on a Sunday as an event to be checked in at. In a society where technology rules, we avoid people. We protect our frailty by guarding our hearts. We adopt the saying “being alone is better because you can’t hurt.”

In this journey of life there are two wings: solitude and community. And whilst we all need our alone time, we don’t want a church full of strangers.

At Northfield, hundreds attend services each Sunday, but church is more than a service. It’s people living life together. It’s people serving each other, Benoni and beyond. It’s people deliberately meeting together and praying, eating, laughing, and learning about God. We call these people disciples in the making.

Each week, Connect communities get together and guide each other on living a life fully surrendered to Christ. They share each others pain, joy, hopes, dreams, success, failures, sorrows and concerns. Real people sharing real life.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

Don’t get lost in the crowd – join a CONNECT group. You are invited…
