THE METHODIST COVENANT
Ice Breaker: What does making a covenant mean
to you?
Covenant Prayer
I am no longer my own, but Yours;
Put me to what You will;
Rank me with whom You will;
Put me to doing, put me to suffering;
Let me be employed for You, or laid aside for You;
Exalted for You, or brought low for You; Let me be full,
let me be empty; Let me have all things, Let me have nothing;
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to Your pleasure
and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am Yours. So be it. And the covenant now
made on earth, let it be ratified in Heaven. Amen
If members of the Cell Group were not in Church when
the prayer was prayed, it may be helpful for the group
to repeat the prayer
A Covenant is...
... An agreement between God and his people in which God
makes certain promises and requires certain behaviour from
them in return
Consider this: (Discuss as appropriate)
We have prayed the Covenant Prayer during our worship
service on the 21st February 2010
1. What is your initial reaction to the words of the
Prayer?
2. What is your intention having prayed the prayer?
3. What is the ONE specific action or attitude that
will be significantly different because you have
made a Covenant with God?
