Weekly Greeting: Sunday 6 June
Dear Friends
In a few days time the FIFA World Cup 2010 will kick off. This is the first time in the history of the tournament that it will be hosted on the African Continent and we get to be the hosts. As said in an advert, "Welcome to our home, Bru". I have also followed, with interest, the debates around "team readiness" and "player fitness". Everyone making sure they are ready, in the best possible form for the day.
It is interesting to note how often the metaphor of sport is used in scripture to describe our journey of faith. "Run the race" is probably the most well known phrase.
As part of our 150 days of Renewal, on Sunday 20th June we start "The Cup of Life - my cup overflows" Sermon series. Whilst we are all focused on the Fifa World cup, what do you need in your cup for you to win the game of life? We are going to look at four aspects, "The Cup of Adventure", "The Cup of Celebration", "The Cup of Commitment" and "The Cup of Courage".
Following on from this, on the 18th July, we start a series called "Renewing our Faith Foundation." As we progressively move through the 150 Days of Renewal, we pick up on some of the fundamental building blocks of our faith. The invitation is to diarise these dates, so that we can journey together.
As the World Cup kicks off, there is a challenge to us to offer the world our best. Our best in hospitality, our best as a witness to what God is doing in our lives. So, wherever you may find yourself over these next few weeks, may God give you the words and the wisdom to serve Him in all things.
Blessings
Brian and the Ministry Team
