Weekly Greeting: Sunday 26 October 2008

Dear Friends

This is the third year that we are running the Northfield Christmas Market known as Norfest (28 October - 1 November). This event has shown pleasing growth over the past few years and this year promises to be even better. We will witness the addition of new stalls and activities for children, as well as a musical on Saturday at 2:00pm and 7:00pm entitled 'Music Thro the Ages'. Many more Northfielders, young and old are involved than in previous years and we are looking forward to a bumper event.

You really don't want to miss the opportunity to begin your preparation for the festive season and at the same time support the work of our church.

But why Norfest? We gleaned the idean of an ongoing Christmas market from other churches and organisations who had decided to raise the fundraising and community involvement to higher levels. It takes years to establish an event like this in the calendar of a church and a community to enable it to grow into a quality event. This allows for the learning of what works and what does not work and to continually improve the way we do it. All-in-all, Northfield is to benefit from the financial returns, community development and having thousands of visitors on our campus.

How long will Norfest go on for? Norfest is an ongoing long-term annual event. It is hoped that it will become the Christmas market event in the Benoni Community.

How can Northfielders participate? All Northfielders are to be hosts for all our visitors. So please let us be hospitable and be of help to all. For as we build relationships with visitors and extend a welcome to them, we are in fact engaging in friendship evangelism. Norfest is also a wonderful opportunity to deepen relationships amongst ourselves. In addition, there are many opportunities to serve at Norfest - please call Avril at the church office or Pat Carson - 082 345 9019 and they will find you a place and time to serve.

Lastly, the Bible teaches that all we do for the Lord must be under girded with prayer. During Norfest we will be calling to participate in a 24/7 prayer movement in the Prayer Chapel from 28 Oct to 1 Nov, from 7am - 7pm. You can sign up for a prayer slot, the roster will be in the foyer or contact Stef on cell 074 196 9160.

We look forward to a blessed time together.

Much love to you.

The Ministry Team
