Dear Friends

Warm greetings.

We have a very special event taking place this week and would not like you to miss it! Once a year we come together to celebrate our life together here at Northfield and to table our reports from the past year. It is also a time when our senior minister can share some thoughts with regard to our future journey as a congregation. We will be doing this on this coming Thursday in the Sanctuary at 7pm. It will be a time of celebrative worship, information giving and vision casting. We hope that you will be able to come and be with us. There will also be a special tea after our time together to which you are invited. The evening should be over at about 8:45pm.

Another special event in our life is our WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER. The week of Guided Prayer begins on 8 March and ends on 14 March. This week is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your journey with God. Each participant in this week is asked to commit themselves to 30 minutes of prayer time every day on their own, and then to meet their prayer guide for 30 minutes each day at the church at a convenient time. You can enroll for this today straight after the service.

Lastly, we trust that ou Covenant Service will be a significant moment of worship in your faith journey today. Once a year Methodists gather to renew their commitment and covenant with God. We have been doing this for many, many years. We trust that even those of you who are unfamiliar with this practice will find our service meaningful. Here is the Prayer which is really worth meditating on:

COVENANT PRAYER:

I am no longer my own, but Yours;

Put me to what You will;

Rank me with whom You will;

Put me to doing, put me to suffering;

Let me be employed for You;

or laid aside for You;

Exalted for You, or brought low for You;

Let me be full, let me be empty;

Let me have all things, Let me have nothing;

I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.

And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, You are mine and I am Yours.

So be it.

And the Covenant now made on earth, let it be ratified in Heaven.
