Weekly Greeting: Sunday 20 June

Dear Friends

This week pushes us just over the halfway point in our journey of 150 Days of Renewal - a time of deepening and strengthening our relationship with God. In this relationship, between God's renewing work and our surrendering of our lives to Him, we trust that our lives - even those places in our lives that are damaged, misdirected and flat, may be fanned into flame. Once this happens, we can be sure of God sending us into the world to add light and warmth to dark and cold circumstances.

We may well be nearing the time when we can begin some assessment of our journey. And so four questions are placed before each of you for your prayerul consideration over the next while. As we have remembered the greatness of Jesus being Master over failure, burnout, depression, change - life and death, has there been any deepening or strengthening movement in your relationship with God?
As we have heard Scripture declare the Holy Spirit as Empowerer, Changer, Gifter and Guide, are you conscious of any stirrings in the depths of our beings or new activity on the tips of your fingers? Are you aware of the themes and trends of your life and are they a part of your renewal journey? Has your service to God in this world been touched in any way as you have opened yourself up to God's renewing of your life?

We continue on this journey today, holding in front of us the cup of adventure. I often wish I could have spoken to a Biblical character shortly before they responded to God's workings in their lives. Would Noah the farmer or Joseph the statesman or Moses the shepherd of his father-in-law's sheep or Ruth the Moabite ever have imagined what God was about to do in their lives? Would Mary engaged to Joseph, or Peter the fisherman or Paul the holy separatist ever have imagined what God was about to do in their lives? May two names be added to this list - yours and mine and let this wild but holy and demanding but life giving adventure into God's dream for us continue!

Shalom

The Ministry Team
