Weekly Greeting: Sunday 2 May
Dear Friends
The university of life gave me this lesson: "Last words are weighty."
One gift given to us over the first month of our "150 Days of Renewal" has been to profess that after death, failiure, burnout and depression have spoken their last words into our lives, Jesus, the Word speaks life! Today we anticipate hearing Jesus calling to us in the midst of change and declaring His Lordship over change.
These are not just nice words, they are realities daily lived out. Within our church over the last month, change has made itself known as births and baptisms and marriages have been celebrated; as new life has been found emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally and spiritually; as setbacks, trauma and tragedy have caused us to rally around to support those affected; as people have gathered to remember their loved ones who have died. These are truths about the lives of many Northfielder with whom we join in worship today. The people sitting around you each have their own stories o change that they are currently facing. You of course are not overlooked by change either.
Some change causes protest and fierce resistance and limitation. Other change brings welcome relief and added value and freedom. But all change happens under the watchful care and active presence of the God who changest not! May every change we experience be touched by a mighty and loving God.
Shalom
