Weekly Greeting: Sunday 14 March
Dear Friends
We are only two weeks away from Palm Sunday! Just over two weeks away from the remembrance of those defining moments of human history.
How is your personal preparation for Easter proceeding? What did you give up for Lent this year? Traditionally we are to give up something that we really enjoy, like chocolate or coffee or pizzas or movies. If that works for you that is fine!
Each of us prepares for Holy Week and Easter in our own particular manner. One way to prepare ourselves is to look inwardly at our attitudes and some of our habits and actions coming out of these attitudes. Do you have attitudes which are not helpful to others? Are we respectful of others especially those who are different? Do we allow space for other opinions? Are we prone to demonstrating anger; are we overly judgemental or do we engage in hurtful gossip about others?
Do our attitudes and actions serve the common good? What does Jesus want from you this Easter season? Are we already ready to forgive? Think of something good you can do for someone else. Be specific and then go and do it!
Consider giving up those attitudes and habits which do not bring the Light of Jesus to us or others!
Just a few reminders:
We will be producing the powerful evangelical musical 'The Witness' this Easter. We ask that you would help us to spread the word and invite your friends to come and see 'The Witness'. Tickets are available from the Church office, at R20 during the week.
The mobile evangelical team of 'Jews for Jesus' are on their way to meet you! This will take place on Wednesday, 17 March at 7pm in the Sanctuary. They will present a program of drama, music, the spoken and the written word all with a distinctly Jewish accent.
The Saturday morning Lent series have been met with a wonderful response. Next Saturday Brian will be talking to the men about 'The Rock of Routine' and the ladies will be led by Fran and discussing mindsets and the generation gap.
Blessings
The Ministry Team
