Weekly Greeting - Sunday 14 February
Dear Friends
Warm greetings!
This morning at our 10am service we formally welcome the Rev Gavin Landers into the Ministry team here at Northfield Methodist Church. It is a special moment for us. He will be publically making promises to serve
this congregation through the ministry tasks of preaching, teaching and pastoral care. In turn the congregation will also be making promises to work with him and to support him in carrying out the mission and ministry of the local congregation. We thank God today for Gavin and for all the gifts that he brings to us. Also a very special thank you to to the Rev Jonathan Anderson, the vice chairperson of our District, who has stood in today for our Bishop.
This week also sees the beginning of our Lenten journey. Lent is that special time in the church's calender which we set aside to prepare ourselves for the events of Easter. We hope that you will journey with us during this time. You can do this in a number of different ways. First of all, we would love you to share in our worship journey. Besides Sunday we have our ASH Wednesday service this Wednesday at 06:45am in the Sanctuary. On each Saturday morning (between 7 and 8am) during Lent, there will be separate journeys for all the men and the women in our congregation. Further details are available on our Events page.
This coming Wednesday night witnesses the fourth session of MOMENTUN FOR LIFE. We have been so encouraged by the faithful attendance of those who have shared this journey. Those not attending may be interested to know that our guest speaker on Wednesday night will be Dr Gys du Plessis. He will be exploring issues relating to Eating, Exercise and Emotional Health. Gys is a medical doctor who works at the Mosaiek church in Fairlands where he has established and runs a Wellness Centre. He is also an accredited presenter of the Imago course - 'Getting the love you want' - which he does for married couples. Those who want to attend this event as a one-off experience can do so.
Last but not least, we trust that you will know God's voice speaking to you in our worship today.
God Bless
The Ministry Team
