Dear Friends
Warm greetings! As many of you know. Northfield Methodist Church will soon be hosting for the fourth time our annual NORFEST. We would love you to share in this event in some way. But perhaps, first of all, you would like some information around why we host this event. Here are some reasons why we invest so much time and energy in this event.
It is one way in which we as a congregation can connect with the wider Benoni community. During NORFEST many of the stallholders are folk from outside of our congregation. It gives them an opportunity to share their talents and skills with us, as well as to earn some income. Furthermore, the event itself brings literally hundreds of non-Northfielders onto our campus. Hopefully they experience us as a welcoming, friendly and caring church.
Secondly, it also gives each and every Northfielder an opportunity to participate in some practical way in serving others. At NORFEST there will be a NORTHFIELD COMMUNITY STALL. We would love you to offer something that you have made for this stall - a bottle of jam, preserves, a jersey you have knitted, a cake, fresh produce, fudge, woodwork or anything else that you do. Think of something that you would have done at one of our fetes and let that be part of the community stall. We are also needing volunteers to help with some of the practicalities ranging from putting up posters, manning the stall, serving food, selling coldrinks, making braais etc
A third obvious reason for hosting this event is that it provides much needed funds for the on-going work and ministry of the Northfield Methodist Church. It helps us pay off some of our bond, finances some of our ministries, enables us to upgrade our property and many other good things. In a nutshell it makes it possible for us to become a people of God for Benoni and Beyond.
So, how do you get involved? You can bring your contributions to the church office. Should you be willing to volunteer an hour or two of your time in some practical way, please give Avril or Jessica a call at the church office. (011 849 7031) or email avril@nfmc.org.za. If you have any concerns or questions you would like to raise, don't hesitate also to make contact. We hope that we can pull together to make NORFEST 2009 a very special event.
