Weekly Greeting: Sunday 11 April
Dear Friends
The journey to the cross is behind us and we are now thrust into life beyond the cross! Yes, last Sunday finds us in a new space.
We trust that the Lenten journey to the cross led you to the death of life defeating attitudes, words, relationships and practices. We trust that you entered into the opportunity for destructive and life taking elements evident in your living to be addressed. We trust that your sin was nailed with Jesus to a cross to die. A new season beyond the cross is now upon us.
In this new season we celebrate the Easter proclamation that God's love cannot be stopped. God's declaration is that we are His beloved children, not because of anything we have done. We in fact cannot do anything to make ourselves more or less worthy of God's love. Disappointing, resisting or even turning our backs and hiding from God's love does not stop God from doing what God is going to do. God out of his Being of Love makes the offer to be in a loving relationship. That offer is unconditional. And so we celebrate the gift of the offer God gives to each one of us - the gift of our old life resurrected or renewed. We celebrate Christ's life giving, life enriching, life creating and love filled offer.
That offer opens up a whole new way of living, a life where we are made holy by the blood Jesus shed, a life renewed to live God's way, renewed by God's healing, renewed in identity and lived under the watchful eye of a Good Shepherd. May we each be open to this renewed life as we abandon ourselves to God's presence and purpose, always hearing His guiding voice.
May God's offer be received by many in prsion this weekend as they are ministered to through the Kairos movement. May God's offer also be received by each one of us - even in this time of worship.
Let the journey of renewal begin!
