Weekly Greeting: Sunday 10 January
Dear Friends
Welcome to a New Year of opportunity and possibility. A wise person once said,"Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to."
We trust that you have had a meaningful rest (for those who were able to) and that as a community of worshippers, we are ready to journey through a New year of God encounters, be it in the workplace, home or together here at Northfield.
It is interesting that at this time of the year we are more prone to question and reflection. How did I do last year? What do I wish I had done or not done? How do I live a better 2010 than I did a 2009?
As we start off this New Year, we invite you on a journey of life-changing questions. For the next five weeks we take a look at:
- Can I know God?
- Why do I need Jesus?
- My plans and God's plans?
- Can I really change?
- How do I live through financial crisis?
Make a radical start to the New Year and diarise the following Sundays, 10th January to the 7th of February. On the 7th of February at the 8am and 10am services, Dr Wessel Bentley joins us to share from his book, "Twenty Eight days of Prayer during a Financial crisis".
WELCOME
We have welcomed Gavin, Tania and their family and it is a pleasure to also welcome Cobus Venter who comes on staff to head up the Audio Visual Ministry and Stacey Venter (no relation to Cobus) who now runs our Children's Church. Cobus joins us from Hatfield Baptist Church and Stacey is a long standing Northfielder who has taken this position as a volunteer. Jenine Pretorius, a full time staff member with the Youth, will be her assistant. We can look forward to many exciting changes in the Children's Church ministry. And so may this year be a year of blessing, of meaning and of deep spiritual growth for us all.
