Weekly Greeting: EASTER SUNDAY 12 APRIL
Dear Friends
Warm greetings.
We trust that Holy Week has been a significant time for you. Today we join together with millions of our brothers and sisters in the faith to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. We hope that it will be a time of joyous celebration for all of us. Sometimes I think that we should also have a period of forty days to celebrate the meaning that Christ's resurrection has for our lives. Perhaps you may like to do this. In Lent we usually give something up to draw us more deeply into Jesus' suffering. Could we not for the next forty days add something to our life on a daily basis that reminds us of the joy of Easter!
As you know, April is Prayer Month for us here at Northfield. We are engaged in 24/7 prayer in the Prayer room for the whole month. Have you signed up yet? It's an important month in the history of our country. We remember well how God acted in our history during the 1994 elections. Most certainly we need God to act in our history at this time as well. You can sign up for 24/7 immediately after the service. In the foyer you will find sheets of paper with time slots on each day for the rest of April. Please select a time when you can come to the Prayer room and keep our 24/7 prayer alive and well.
It has been a real gift to have the Emseni Retreat House available for solitude and silence. At the end of this month (24-26 April)Trevor will be leading a silent retreat for those who have never been on retreat before. If you are looking for an opportunity to deepen your relationship with God, this could be a worthwhile experience for you. You can book your place by making contact with Lyn at the church office. Please also pray for the ministry of the Retreat House as it gets off the ground.
During May we are holding a sermon series entitled "When Life Breaks Down". We are hoping that this series will give us, as a congregation, an opportunity to reach out to others. You can play your part by thinking of someone now that you would love to invite to worship. Why not begin to pray for that person now? Perhaps you can also ask God to show you how you can best invite this person to this series. Above all, we ask you to keep in your prayers all the preparations that are going on for this series. This series will culminate in a Healing Mission with Alexander Venter from the Vineyard Church. It could be a very special time for our congregation and our ministry in Benoni and Beyond.
